This study traces the complex evolution – often influenced by specific national contexts – of how objects and language forms (prosaic, technical, or quotidian) that had been excluded for centuries by traditional lyrical conventions gradually gained legitimacy in high-style poetry. Through focused engagement with the Italian literary tradition – one predominantly characterized by natural landscapes – this research examines the challenges, outcomes, and implications of this paradigm shift in the history of poetic landscape representation. The investigation begins with a historical analysis spanning from the mid-eighteenth century to the present day, tracking developments through the eventual dissolution of the canonical nature-society dichotomy that has facilitated our contemporary ecological understanding. Based on close textual analysis and contextualization within the broader European literary framework, this research aims both to synthesize key theoretical perspectives on the modern landscape and to illuminate their consequential impact on poetic style and thematic concerns.

Abstract
Based on close textual analysis and contextualization within the broader European literary framework, this research aims both to synthesize key theoretical perspectives on the modern landscape and to illuminate their consequential impact on poetic style and thematic concerns.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
