Lingua e identità nell'opera di Fausta Cialente

In 1983, during a television interview, Fausta Cialente reflected on her existence as a “foreigner everywhere”, questioning her Italian identity: «Am I truly an Italian writer? How much of Italy is inside me?» Born in Cagliari in 1898, Cialente lived in Egypt from 1921 to 1947, devoting herself to intense antifascist propaganda during World War II. The paper analyses some of her works through the themes of belonging and otherness, rootedness and displacement, with a particular focus on her reflections on identity and language.
