In this special issue entitled "Exemplary Memories. The Literary Legacy of Max Aub", we start from the premise that the legacy of Max Aub (1903-1972) is a living legacy that continues to arouse the interest of readers and scholars. The critical ferment surrounding Aub’s writing has not diminished even in Italy; on the contrary, among young Italian Hispanists there are many who have measured themselves against the multiform production of this writer and the aim of this special issue is precisely to stimulate their reflections on the current validity of literary testimonies from a time now long gone by. Along with the perspectives of academically younger specialists, the issue is completed with an introductory study by Silvia Monti and an essay by Manuel Aznar Soler.
