Out of Africa, genesi del linguaggio, e preistoria. In difesa di una prospettiva chomskyana

In this paper, I defend a Chomskyan position on the genesis and evolution of language from a rather unusual point of view: that of the overall chronology of human prehistory and protohistory, and the reasonableness of having not too long a gap between the birth of fully human, «symbolic», and conceptual, language, and the inception of civilization. I also criticize critics of UG and those who claim that present and past languages may have possessed absolutely differential degrees of complexity with respect to each other (the critics of the compensation thesis or hypohesis). But I also suggest that it may be fruitful to study the evolution of language as a complex phenomenon, once it is fully clear we mean here the faculty of language in a broad sense (FLB), and «actual» languages only.
