The use of Field Hospitals ‘FH’, which are specialized for the disasters and planned to guarantee high technical and medical standards is a fundamental component in reducing mortality in the aftermath of sudden-impact disaster. The installation and planning of Field Hospitals confronts various difficulties, so a ‘DSS’ (Decision Support System) was developed to consider all the variables necessary for a correct and effective FH planning. The model allowed the planning of Field Hospitals to the disaster typology and to the disaster area, taking into account the number of people involved and the local health system capacity. The DSS also specifies Field Hospital technical requirements and technological support.
