My PhD project proposes the critical edition of the almost totally unpublished Libre de vicis et de vertutz, the Occitan version of the moral compendium known as Somme le Roi. The text is transmitted by seven known and complete manuscripts and five fragments, all dated at the mid-14th century. The introductory study is divided into two sections: the first one concerning the diachronic transmission and the second one analyzing all those processes that detach the natural mobility and the translation process. According with this duality in the consideration of the extant variants, the critical apparatus, placed at the bottom of the page, is divided into three sections: the first one containing the variants concerning all the reconstructive intervention on the text, the second one the varia lectio simply alternative (when necessary, even in the graphical and linguistic matters) and the third one with pertinent paleography and codicological information. The text is accompanied by a wide final commentary that provides all the relevant information concerning the editorial work, the linguistic issue related to a single witness or the explanation of a passage considered particularly difficult.
