Little is known about how public and private health expenditures are differentially associated with mortality rates of different age groups. The aim of this study is to investigate whether different types of health spending, including directly provided services (DPS), agreed-upon (TAUS) and private health care expenditure (FHE), influence all-cause mortality rate (MR) in adults (25-64 years old, aMR) and elder people (over 65 years, eMR) in Italy.
