In 2015 the Ministers of Education of EU member States adopted the Paris Declaration on promoting citizenship and the common values of freedom, tolerance and non-discrimination through education. The aim of this Declaration was to enhance EU member States action on quality education as an instrument towards inclusive and more democratic societies. The author maintains that the Declaration is part to the international practice on the right to education and analyses how the measures taken so far to implement the objectives of the Declaration are in compliance with international standards on quality education and human rights education, also within the perspective of the UN 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development
