This paper presents some of the themes, problems and perspectives that constitute the issues opening the debate around predicting methods applied to prehistory. After a brief report on the background of predictive processes, some main questions are discussed and in particular which, if any, are the peculiarities that characterise predictive investigations of prehistoric contexts.
