Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in Europe after that of the lung. The diagnosis of prostate cancer can be performed through several tests but, in Italy, doctors tend to request often both the total and free PSA even in cases where the total PSA doesn’t justify the further request of free PSA, with a consequent growth of the costs for the National Health System. The aim of our study was to predict the saving in Euro and reduction in free PSA tests, applying the ‘PSA Reflex'.

Abstract
Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in Europe after that of the lung. The diagnosis of prostate cancer can be performed through several tests but, in Italy, doctors tend to request often both the total and free PSA even in cases where the total PSA doesn’t justify the further request of free PSA, with a consequent growth of the costs for the National Health System. The aim of our study was to predict the saving in Euro and reduction in free PSA tests, applying the ‘PSA Reflex'.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
