A preliminary project for a Far Infrared Free Electron Laser to be used in a spectroscopic experiment is presented. The goal of the experiment is to measure the energy difference between levels in muonic hydrogen atoms, in order to evaluate the QED correction due to the vacuum polarization with a precision better then 10-4.
