On the basis of an already extended literature - concentrated on the fields of juridical analysis, history of art and economics - the paper proposes a reflection around the matter of politics for cultural heritage management focalising the area of Eastern Europe between 1945 and 1989. It focalises the different elements characterising the experience of cultural heritage management in the socialist system after the second world war, trying to point out elements of continuity and rupture after the collapse of socialist regimes.
