Starting from some suggestions by Gödel, I argue that Hegel’s dialectical logic is not a doctrine of correct inference, since it ignores the principle e falso quodlibet. As far as paraconsistent logics are concerned, they are involved in a trilemma: 1) Hegel meant exactly what Graham Priest means today; or, 2) Hegel was a trivialist, or 3), as said, Hegel’s logic is truly a doctrine of lògos that does not coincide with logic in a modern sense. As a consequence, since only 3) can be accepted, Hegel’s dialectics does indeed violate the principle of non contradiction in a historical reconstruction of concepts.

Abstract
Starting from some suggestions by Gödel, I argue that Hegel’s dialectical logic is not a doctrine of correct inference, since it ignores the principle e falso quodlibet. As far as paraconsistent logics are concerned, they are involved in a trilemma: 1) Hegel meant exactly what Graham Priest means today; or, 2) Hegel was a trivialist, or 3), as said, Hegel’s logic is truly a doctrine of lògos that does not coincide with logic in a modern sense. As a consequence, since only 3) can be accepted, Hegel’s dialectics does indeed violate the principle of non contradiction in a historical reconstruction of concepts.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
