Abstract. Since a long time computers entered the schools, and it seems reasonable to foresee that "new technologies" will be quickly and definitely included in school practice. Thus it becomes more and more urgent to identify the crucial points around which organise the discussion on the use of computers and all the new technologies related to them: how and why new technologies influence, and are going to influence in the future, education and in particular mathematics education.
