Yellowish-brown partly greyish renmants of probable film, all similar under macroscopic observation, are widespread on the surface of the statue. Mineralogical and petrographical analiyses on microfragments of film was cariied out in order to characterise their composition and possibly clarify their nature. The microscopic analyses revealed that all the sampled were made of a mixture of a cementing material represented by gypsum, and subordinate mineral grains consisting of calcite and quartz and very small quantities of carbon and iron ochres
