A moral desirability function is developed, which on the one hand tries to satisfy motivational requirements and on the other tries to capture moral intuitions about distributive justice. The motivational force is provided by relying on sympathy. The resulting function is called "utilex" because it is a synthesis of utilitarianism and the leximin principle (i.e. an improved version of the maximin principle).

Abstract
A moral desirability function is developed, which on the one hand tries to satisfy motivational requirements and on the other tries to capture moral intuitions about distributive justice. The motivational force is provided by relying on sympathy. The resulting function is called "utilex" because it is a synthesis of utilitarianism and the leximin principle (i.e. an improved version of the maximin principle).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
