This paper examines some pseudo-coordinative structures of Italian involving focussing adverbs, i.e. "not only... but also...". A 'conjunction reduction' approach is pursued based on a) movement of the two correlates to a focus position, b) ellipsis or across-the-board movement of the rest of the clause.
