The inclusion of immigrants in higher education has gained prominence amid increasing migratory flows and the pivotal role of universities in fostering both academic development and social integration. While the importance of higher education institutions as agents of inclusion is widely recognized, there remain significant gaps in understanding how these institutions systematically ensure immigrants’ access, retention, and academic success. This study addresses this issue by mapping and analyzing the main initiatives implemented by universities, focusing on three key dimensions: access (admission policies and recognition of prior studies), participation (academic support and social integration), and empowerment (student autonomy and agency). The research is based on documentary analysis of reports from international organizations (UNHCR, IOM, UNESCO) and from universities, as well as a review of academic studies on multiculturalism and immigrant inclusion in higher education. Findings indicate that, although several noteworthy initiatives exist, most remain fragmented and lack institutionalization. Understanding and strengthening these actions is crucial to consolidating long-term policies that promote genuinely inclusive and equitable university environments.

Abstract
Understanding and strengthening these actions is crucial to consolidating long-term policies that promote genuinely inclusive and equitable university environments.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
