This paper analyzes material, archaeological, and documentary evidence related to the liturgical furnishings of the cathedral of St. Matthew in Salerno in order to offer a reliable hypothesis for the reconstruction of the medieval configuration of the sacred space. The final goal is to offer a tool for the verification of the diverse historiographical proposals concerning the reconstruction and placement of the medieval set of the famous Salerno ivories, dismembered and today preserved in the Museo Diocesano.
