Dans le dossier des épigrammes d’Ausone, une hypothétique pseudo-inscription gravée sur la base d’un signum en marbre montre un Liber Pater Pantheus, réunissant les attributs de « tous les dieux ». Un malentendu sur la signification originelle du terme pantheus a conduit les spécialistes à identifier cette formulation comme une représentation de la « totalité des dieux ». S’inspirant de ce poème, l’article vise à reconsidérer l’idée de « totalité divine », en analysant ses possibles modes de représentation visuelle. Pour ce faire, on se penche sur l'expression signum pantheum, attestée dans un certain nombre d’inscriptions latines. Les chercheurs ont tenté de relier ces signa panthea à des objets artistiques (statuettes, reliefs, etc.) affichant une série d’attributs divins, découverts dans les territoires de l'Empire romain. L’article propose une étude approfondie de ces objets « panthéistes » en dépassant leurs caractéristiques iconographiques pour mettre en évidence leur sémantique visuelle et religieuse.
