This chapter examines the legal implications of NFTs in the digital art market. NFTs, which use blockchain technology to represent ownership of unique digital assets, offer transparency and authenticity but do not automatically include copyright rights. The analysis highlights a growing convergence between common law and civil law systems in recognizing NFTs as a form of digital property. However, legal issues persist, particularly regarding copyright and ownership rights. The chapter calls for legal updates to address these challenges while noting the potential of NFTs to enhance the art market and provide new income opportunities for artists.
