Abstract
The pseudo-etymology that derived the term satura from the figures of the Satyrs played a decisive role in connecting satire to the world of theatre. Such a connection was to have a long fortune, between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. This paper shows how even playwrights as Politian, Giraldi Cinzio, and Guarini, who attempted to create intermediate forms between tragedy and comedy, were influenced by this way of imagining early satire.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
