Archaeominerary researches recently carried out in the Monti di Campiglia (Livorno) district (Tuscany), have shed light on the exploitation of sulphide ores in the Etruscan and Roman periods. This report highlights on the chronological framework of such activities, especially focussing on the cultivation techniques of ancient miners and on the historical framework of the minerary enterprise, controlled by the nearby Etruscan city Populonia.
