In the design of the static spatial configuration of our environments and of the objects of everyday use, aesthetic criteria play an important role. But they are conspicuously absent in the design of everyday time and space time. We want to argue that a first step towards the development of aesthetic criteria for space time design is the structured observation of the spatio-temporal distribution of events. To this purpose we discuss briefly the approach of sensuous urbanism and the possibility of extending it to temporal and spatio-temporal aspects. We then describe the procedure of TIME WALKS and report about the one that was performed during the “Time & Diversity” conference. The chapter concludes with an hypothesis on how the TIME WALK approach might prove useful for a future space time design.
