Intra-arterial chemotherapy (IAC) for retinoblastoma treatment, also called superselective ophthalmic artery chemotherapy or chemosurgery, is a technique that allows a localized drug delivery to the ocular target. Currently, it is restricted to retinoblastoma (RB), permitting primary and salvage treatment for moderate and advanced RB (stage B to selected E), especially in eyes that would otherwise undergo enucleation. Intra-arterial chemosurgery conserves many eyes with retinoblastoma avoiding at the same time the risks of systemic chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Abstract
Intra-arterial chemotherapy (IAC) for retinoblastoma treatment, also called superselective ophthalmic artery chemotherapy or chemosurgery, is a technique that allows a localized drug delivery to the ocular target. Currently, it is restricted to retinoblastoma (RB), permitting primary and salvage treatment for moderate and advanced RB (stage B to selected E), especially in eyes that would otherwise undergo enucleation. Intra-arterial chemosurgery conserves many eyes with retinoblastoma avoiding at the same time the risks of systemic chemotherapy and radiotherapy.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
