Love Letters. Situations, Lexicon and Speakers in the XIIth Century Letter-Collections This paper analyzes the sentimental letter models contained in the XIIth letter-collections: in addition to their census (which can be read in the appendix), a textual analysis is carried out to shows the persons involved (lovers, spouses, adulterers, clerics etc.) and the lexicon used to describe each situations. In the final part we can read a fast comparison with contemporary experiences (fin’amor and Saint Bernard’s mystical love), highlighting the cultural and literary differences.
