Les archives sonores entre demande sociale et usages scientifiques : quelles modalités pour réutiliser les sources enregistrées ?

Sound archives are at the crossroad of several fields of knowledge in human and social sciences. The paper presents the experiences of two different sound archives: the Phonothèque of the Maison méditerranéenne des sciences de l’homme (MMSH) and Grammo-foni: Le soffitte della voce (Gra.fo), a research project carried out by Scuola Normale Superiore and the University of Siena. Ethical and legal issues related to dissemination, access and reuse of the recordings are the focus of the text. As a matter of fact, each field of knowledge has elaborated specific ways of preserving data, of dealing with sensitive information, and of disseminating the recordings, thus making it rather difficult to envisage a common strategy for web dissemination. The comparative analysis of the French and Italian experiences allows a deep understanding of the multidisciplinarity issues arising when dealing with sound archives.
