In this paper the stability and reliability of perovskite YCoO3 used as sensor material for the detection of nitrogen dioxide are studied. The sensors typically operate at high temperature in presence of active gases, and therefore the sensing chemical film is the main responsible for their long-term stability. The drift of the electrical resistance baseline and the loss of response amplitude must be minimized in order to grant the device reliability at a certain time. This work proposes a method that allows for stressing chemical sensors in order to assess their degree of ageing. The proposed technique could be a useful tool for the characterization of NO2 sensors used in air quality monitoring systems, where large sensitivity, low power consumption and long-term stability are required.
