The aim of the article is to show to what extent it is possible to talk about the South Europena Member states of the EU as a homogeneous region with respect to the topics of Europena citizenship adressed in the special issue of this Journal. In particular we address both the level of homogeneity of the attitudes developed by national political and economic elites within this area and the level of distinctiveness of such attitudes compared with the pan-European trend. The article uses the original data of a survey conducted among a sample of politiciana and top economic managers by the 6th FP research project INTUNE
