The AA. report the immunochemical study of cultured fibroblasts from two siblings affected by giant axonal neuropathy (GAN). After immunocytochemical staining with antivimentin antibody, fibroblasts from GAN showed the presence of fibrous bodies, that have not been seen in control fibroblasts. The pathogenesis of GAN is hypothesized as due to a systemic change of macromolecules involved in cytoskeleton organization.
