It has been observed in Venice Lagoon that salt-marshes have appeared and developed as a consequence of the presence of artificial or biological confinements, maintaining separation domains in thehydrodynamic wave and tidal flow field. This surprising result is analysed in terms of a recently developed point of view on the emergence of self-organization in liquid water near interfaces with walls. This self-organization emerges through the combined action of quantum coherence and dissipative dynamics.

Abstract

It has been observed in Venice Lagoon that salt-marshes have appeared and developed as a consequence of the presence of artificial or biological confinements, maintaining separation domains in thehydrodynamic wave and tidal flow field. This surprising result is analysed in terms of a recently developed point of view on the emergence of self-organization in liquid water near interfaces with walls. This self-organization emerges through the combined action of quantum coherence and dissipative dynamics.
