The actual knowledge of the topography of the etruscan city of Populonia has been improved by recent research activities carried out on the acropolis and on the lower part of the centre. This work analyses the particular position of some sanctuaries, related both to the necropolises and the urban walls. According to this data, the works tries to define a more articulated picture of the urban, suburban and ager areas of the centre.
