The communication of bad news is something that occurs every day in medical practice and is one of the most discouraging tasks faced medicinally. Often, doctors are communicating the "bad news" to patients met just hours before, without appropriate planning of the meeting with no special training. Only 40% of doctors believe have proper training to effectively provide bad news without ever having received feedback of their real expertise on the part of patients. The communication of a poor prognosis requires from the doc-tor of "advanced communication skills" that go beyond the words or procedures since they assume the abil-ity to be a doctor with the patient in a clinical context "person oriented" and the wise management of their emotions and those of the patient and family members.
