In the context of the relationship between human rights and culture, Social/Socio-Cultural Groups present special needs, as they must be specially protected against discrimination, on the one hand, and need that human rights standards are "adapted" to their special cultural needs, on the other hand. The contribution is one of the overview articles written by the members of the Scientific Committee of the Project with the purpose of introducing the readers to the specific issues delat with in the volume.
